Sasha Waltz (* 1963 in Karlsruhe) is a pioneer of the “installative turn”. She further develops the installation concept: Dance becomes an installation and installation to action. In the exhibition space the viewer moves through the events on the »stage«, he is their part and determines the distance to the event or object itself. The transitions between performance and exhibition are fluid. This is the new signum by Sasha Waltz. The volume documents an exhibition of the artist at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, where large installations form the center. This is supplemented by numerous smaller installations and objects, unpublished documents and archival materials as well as an extensive performance program based on music by composers such as Jonathan Bepler, Pascal Dusapin and Hans Peter Kuhn as well as Henry Purcell and Franz Schubert.
