Sasha Waltz is one of the most famous and exciting choreographers in Europe. Her choreographies repeatedly surprise the viewer with new aesthetics in exciting spaces. Waltz is not only interested in working with dancers, but in dialogue with all artistic forms. In the production of the Purcell opera “Dido & Aeneas” she also developed a new genre: the choreographic opera. The spectrum ranges from Purcell, Berlioz, Stravinsky to contemporary classical music. She has performed the two operas “Medea” and “Passion” with the French composer Pascal Dusapin and collaborated with the Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa on “Matsukaze”. The film shows all these poignant and aesthetic pieces in excerpts, when Sasha Waltz gives a deep insight into her artistic work. The film portrait by Brigitte Kramer traces the successful years in Waltz’s international career from 2005 to today.
