PINA is a full-length dance film with the ensemble of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and the stirring, unique art of its great choreographer, who died in summer 2009. The film invites the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: right into the middle of the stage of the legendary ensembles and with the dancers out of the theatre into the city and the surrounding area of Wuppertal – the place that was home and centre of Pina Bausch’s creative work for 35 years.
“A stroke of luck” – Die Welt
The artistic concept of PINA focuses on four pieces by Pina Bausch: LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS, CAFE MÜLLER, KONTAKTHOF and VOLLMOND. Wim Wenders makes the dancers his protagonists and lets them talk about their personal experiences working with Pina Bausch – but in their own language: dance.
