The stage and costume designer Martin Rupprecht is regarded as “one of the leading outfitter in the German-speaking world, whose ‘art of atmospheric concentration’ is rich in variety, opulently and ironically breaks conventional viewing habits and sets strong visual accents”. (Rowohlt Theater Lexikon)
In addition to classical operas, he has worked in particular in the New Music Theater as a congenial partner of directors such as Mauricio Kagel, Winfried Bauernfeind and Michael Hampe. He was u. a. in Berlin, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Stockholm. The volume documents the stage work of Rupprecht in large-format pictures and opulent equipment, accompanied by contributions u. a. by Achim Freyer, Christoph Tannert, Mauricio Kagel and Peter W. Marx.
